VIENA

A whirl of gilded Hapsburg palaces and regal parks on the banks of the blue Danube, Vienna is a fine romance of a city. Tradition and innovation walk hand in hand: Strauss waltzes are still hip to 20-something ball-goers and even the imperial stables have been born again as the surprising and vibrant Museum Quarter. The Viennese love Gemütlichkeit (relaxation), so this city is to be savored not rushed, whether you're indulging in a dark chocolate Sachertorte in a chandelier-lit coffee house or rising gently above the twinkling Prater in the Riesenrad Ferris wheel.

Things to Do

For many the Hofburg Imperial Palace is Vienna, with its prancing Lipizzaner stallions and lavish apartments the Hapsburgs called home for 600 years. Take a horse-drawn Fiaker carriage to clip-clop through the stately Innerestadt to Gothic St Stephan's Cathedral nearby. Picasso and Warhol hang at the avant-garde Museum Quarter, but romantics are more drawn to Klimt's shimmering The Kiss and the landscaped gardens at the baroque Belvedere Palace. As dusk falls, leave the Prater's merry-go-rounds and watch the iconic Riesenrad cast a magical spell.

Day 1:

It focuses the Altstadt or Old Town, the inner core of ancient Vienna. Start: U-Bahn to Stephansplatz.

Domkirche St. Stephan, Kärntnerstrasse, Staatsoper, Hofburg Palace Complex, Albertina, Augustinerkirche, Kaiserappartements, Schatzkammer, Spanische Reitschule, Burgkapelle, Ringstrasse.

Day 2:

Tackle two of the finest museums of Austria with an afternoon visit to a great imperial palace topped off by a night at Vienna's New York's Coney Island.

Kumsthistorisches Museum, Liechtenstein Museum, Schönbrunn Palace, The Prater.

Day 3:

Take in the Belvedere, spend the afternoon at MuseumsQuartier before hitting one of the famous heurigen or wine taverns. Nothing is more typically Viennese than spending a night drinking and eating at one of these taverns on the edge of the Vienna Woods.

Schloss Belvedere, Naschmarkt, The MuseumsQuartier Complex, Grinzing (On the edge of the Vienna Woods, take tram 1 to Schottentor, then change to tram no. 38 for Grinzing. This is the most visited town for those wanting to spend a night at a heurigen or wine tavern. The sound of the zither or the accordion lasts long into a summer night).



TIROL

El Tirol és una de les parts més turístiques d'Àustria, perquè és un dels llocs on hi ha algunes de les millors estacions d'esquí del món. Els tirolesos tenen un sentit d'identitat regional fort, això queda reflectit en el seu accent, la cuina i l'estil de vida. Moltes tradicions antigues es mantenen a les valls de les muntanyes. En quan al turisme, hi ha variïs llocs d'interès en el contat: nosaltres triem Kitzbühel per passar uns dies esquiant i com alguns va fer mal temps, també vam visitar Salzburg.  

SALZBURG  

Coneguda internacionalment pel magnífic casc històric que s'ha mantingut al llarg dels segles i que des de 1997 és protegit per la UNESCO. La ciutat també es coneguda per ser el bressol de Mozart, per ser el lloc on es va rodar la pel·lícula de "Somriures y Llágrimes"   i per ser la seu del famós festival de Salzburg que se celebra anualment.  

Es podria dir que Mozart ha marcat el seu passat i present. Salzburg, bressol del compositor, atreu a milers de visitants pels seus forts vincles amb el músic i pels seus llocs d'interès.

Visita Hohensalzburg, una imponent fortalesa, o el seu castell, que compta amb canons i masmorres. Passeja pel seu casc històric medieval o Altstadt i visita el complex arzobispal. Les visites guiades pels emplaçaments en els quals discorre la pel·lícula Somriures i Llàgrimes et portessin a Grossess Festspielhaus o a la casa natal de Mozart. Adquireix la targeta de transport per viatjar gratis amb autobús i aconseguir descomptes en les entrades.

Salzburg és una ciutat màgica, petita amb un aire clàssic, però amb una gran personalitat, és com un conte de fades, cal recórrer-ho a peu i descobrir tots els seus carrers. Està atravessada pel riu Salzach i tot gira entorn a la figura de Mozart. Del seu patrimoni musical tots som amos, però no es pot anar a Salzburg sense visitar la casa on va néixer almenys per somiar amb ell... Passejar pels seus carrers és un plaer.
